3d Printer

This is a tool I built to making small parts for my other projects. It uses fused deposition modeling, a form of additive manufacturing to print parts out of ABS.

ABS plastic is extruded through a 300µm nozzle heated to 190˚C onto a glass build platform that is also heated to 110˚C.

The frame consistis of laser cut MDF used for the base and 3d printed brackets as well as standard metal stock from the hardware store.

The printer is driven by 5 nema 40 stepper motors:
1 for the x axis
1 for the y axis
2 for the z axis
1 for the extruder

for the electronics I used an Arduino shield called RAMPS , designed by the members of the RepRap community
